My name is Carlisle and I am glad you are here.
Professionally, I have been working as a UX Designer on the wild west of the internet since 2013 (more on that below).
When I am not making things on the internet easier to use, I am creating things for myself. I am a painter, writer, late night comic, costume manifester, mouth runner, meme generator, and obsessive group texter.
And if you are thinking, “group texts can’t be art,” well, you’re wrong.
My philosophy on UX is straightforward:
I want to make difficult products easier to use via transformative design. I consider myself to be in the business of Pain Alleviation Through Design™, and the majority of my professional career has been spent deep in the weeds of complex digital products. Usually those products have been mission critical to their user base, and usually those products have been in periods of rapid growth when I have joined.
As a UX Designer, I thrive in lofty, open-ended product spaces – ones that need smart information architectures, rapid decision making, and courageous ease-of-use UX to be successful. Standout projects in my career have been working on AppFolio’s Owner and Search experiences, Cint’s (formerly Lucid) comprehensive React design system, and Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.
